Worry is still one of the major occupations of people of the world. You too, perhaps. Worry is so pervasive that it actually distracts from your happiness. If you spend a majority of your time anxious about what might happen, you cannot concentrate on developing happiness within.
First, this you already know. You cannot control everything that comes into your life. I remind you. So hunker down into your interior fortress of happiness and wait and see. It is a fact that upwards of 80% of what we think will happen never does.
Haven't got an interior fortress of happiness? You can build one beginning immediately. Sit quietly, close you eyes. Think of a golden beam of light emanating from the Universe and bathing you in its beams.
Imagine this is your connection to the Divine Consciousness. All is energy; all is light. As you cultivate this Divine Energy Beam and its significance for you and to you, you can build your fortress. Imagine the blocks of this grand citadel going up one at a time.
When it is complete in your mind/spirit, hide yourself within for the time being. Close the great gates and rest inside while continuing to bath in the Golden Light. When you are ready, you then charge forth through the open gates and tackle your life. You can retreat into this fortress at any time to regain your strength and balance.
Second, do not concern yourself with what other people think. (This has always been one of my biggest bugaboos.) From your personal, inward happiness, realize that you are perfect just the way you are. What other people think of you is none of your (yes, your) business. Think enough of yourself through your own discovered interior happiness that you don't need value from others.
In the inner fortress of happiness that you have constructed with the Golden Light, you can regroup your own resources. That is, you can find again and again that you are perfect in and of yourself just the way you are. You are perfectly human in any given moment. When you understand this fully, you will not need to be validated by what others think of you.
Third, do prepare yourself for your future. Be as ready as you can be for what it is you want to do and to be. Study, work out, practice, learn, grow - whatever it takes to be as geared up as you can be. But do not use worry as preparation. Worry never is preparation.
Make plans. Save your money. Study the maps. Gather the supplies. Notice, however, I have said nothing about worry. Worry never plans anything. As a matter of fact, it may even get in the way of planning well.
Fourth, think about the outcome in your own terms. In other words, presage how you want things to turn out. Be positive, not filled with distress. Instead of seeing yourself as losing and brooding about that, see yourself as winning. Pre-visualize yourself as accomplishing your goal. Do not let trouble have any part in this foreseeing.
By all means set your goals. Where do you want to be in five weeks, ten weeks, six months, one year? What do you want to have accomplished in those time frames? This is a further putting into place the plans that you have made. But leave fretting out of it. It has no real place nor purpose in a goal setting process.
Fifth, live as though you have accomplished what you have wished for. I am not asking you to live beyond your means. I am asking you to believe beyond your means. Think of yourself as having already achieved. When you live in this manner, there is no room for worry because the activity is already accomplished - no need for worry then.
Champion athletes, for one, see themselves as crossing the finish line, jumping higher, lifting more. They look into the future and imagine their accomplishments as having already taken place. From your interior fortress of happiness, you can do the same. It costs nothing to imagine. But imagination is one of the most power tools in your personality. Notice again, there is no need for worry.
Can you see the happiness flowing through? From your interior reservoir of happiness sustained through connection to the Divine Consciousness, you can give up worry. It does you no good anyway. Do all the calm and serious planning for the future that you need. Do all the pre-visualization you need. Remembering as you are planning that worry never planned anything.
